Digital Electronics Basics to First Steps in VLSI and Verilog
Build solid digital-logic foundations (number systems, Boolean algebra, adders, flip-flops, FSMs) and write and simulate your first Verilog designs.
You will be able to
- Perform binary, hex and two's complement arithmetic confidently
- Simplify a 3- or 4-variable logic function using a K-map
- Design adders, multiplexers, registers and counters
- Write and simulate a Verilog module with a testbench
- Explain the RTL-to-GDSII VLSI design flow and entry-level roles
Before you start
Class 12 physics and maths. Basic idea of voltage and current helps.
Who it's for: ECE and EEE students in their first or second year, or anyone curious about chip design careers (RTL design, verification, physical design) in India's growing semiconductor sector.
What you'll be able to do:
- Convert between binary, hex and two's complement and do signed arithmetic
- Simplify logic with Boolean algebra and Karnaugh maps
- Explain adders, multiplexers, flip-flops, counters and finite state machines
- Write a Verilog module and testbench and simulate it with free tools
- Describe the steps from RTL to a fabricated chip
Pairs well with your university's Digital Electronics / Digital System Design course.
