Git and GitHub for your first project
Version control the way you'll actually use it: committing your work, undoing mistakes, and putting your first project on GitHub so a recruiter can read it.
You will be able to
- Track any project with Git from day one
- Undo mistakes without fear
- Publish a repository a recruiter can read
- Write commit messages and READMEs like a professional
Before you start
A computer with a terminal (Windows, macOS or Linux). No programming experience needed.
Every project in this course is one you already have: notes, code, a college assignment. You''ll put it under version control, learn the five commands that cover 90% of real work, and finish with a GitHub profile that shows finished work instead of empty folders.
Work through the lessons in order; each one ends with something to actually do. Expect about an hour in total, spread over a few sittings.
This course is free. Your progress is private to your account. My learning shows every course you’ve started.
