- Indian nationals only
- Enrolled in a recognised institution (UG/PG at a recognised college or university; diploma/ITI/polytechnic, with diploma pursued after Class 12)
- Passed the previous qualifying examination with at least 55% marks
- Annual family income less than or equal to INR 2.5 lakh
- Preference to applicants facing a personal or family crisis in the past three years that puts their education at risk
